New on DVD! (10/18/05).

COMMENTARY
Lots of good stuff this week for the world of geekdom.  I believe most Movie New Releases hit stores on Tuesdays, so these should be available as you're reading them, though few stores will have all of them.  I have listed everything here, including rereleases, trying to sort them into somewhat meaningful categories (if you have better suggestions, I'm all ears).  I'm thrilled that I finally get to see Batman Begins, as I'd intended to in the theatres but never got around to it--damned busy life!  But that doesn't mean you can make me pick up a DVD of Batman & Robin.  I don't care if it is a "Special Edition."  The first one was "Special" enough, as you'd have to ride the short bus to enjoy it... and Schumacher must have been riding it to the set to film the thing.  Land of the Dead is another one I missed.  And I even brushed up on all the other Romero filmes to be ready for it, so that's another one.  That said, what makes you think I want to see an "Unrated" edition of Elektra any more than I wanted to see the "Rated" version.  Unless you cut out all the quality to get your rating, supplementing some more crap onto a pile of crap does not an Oscar earn you.
